Our Journey

Born and raised in New York, and having lived in the Hudson Valley for 25 years, our farming family has chosen to pour its energy and soul into this beautiful, wild and untouched part of the Catskills.

 

Solvstream, Danish for "silver stream", draws on the family's heritage and highlights the significance of the flowing course of water that runs through the middle of the property.

 

Our intention is to live harmoniously with the natural environment, as land custodians, rather than landowners, in a way that balances the needs of all that contributes to the fabric of the surrounding natural environment - plants, animals and people - and the stream itself.

 

Our farm is planned to be operated on a model using permaculture principles that balance social equity access to quality organic produce for the local community, as well as leveraging our proximity to the commercial city markets of New York, Boston and Philadelphia.

 

Above all, Solvstream is being carefully and deliberately developed respectfully within the framework of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) - the dual objectives of which are to simultaneously enhance both the quality of NYC drinking water and the vitality of the watershed communities
